Fractional Ablative Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing has been used for decades to achieve dramatic results, but traditional lasers require removal of the entire surface of the skin. This gave great results, but had significant downtime.

Thanks to innovations in laser technology, modern fractional ablative lasers work by using thousands of highly concentrated microscopic beams of laser energy to remove precise amounts of skin in a controlled, targeted fashion. This approach leaves behind islands of normal skin to help the healing process, giving you remarkable results without the prolonged recovery time.

At the Dermatology Center of Canyon County, we use the Matrix Fractional C02 Laser to produce dramatic effects on the skin including:

  • Immediate tightening of the skin
  • Reduction of deep wrinkles and fine lines
  • Noticeable improvement in skin texture and tone
  • Elimination of sun spots and other pigment abnormalities
  • Stimulation of new collagen formation to firm and plump the skin

Common Questions

Does it hurt?

Thanks to the use of topical numbing medicine, patients experience little to no discomfort during the treatment.

What can I expect after the treatment?

Depending on the intensity of the treatment, patients require up to a week of “social downtime” while the skin is healing. Significant improvement is seen as soon as one week after treatment and final results are achieved at 6 months .

How long do the results last?

Unlike some other cosmetic treatments, the results do not “wear off”. Unfortunately, you will still continue to age after the treatment, but with proper skin care, you can expect to see significantly younger looking skin for years to come.

How do I schedule a treatment?

Since this is a more intense treatment than most cosmetic procedures, a consultation is required prior to treatment. At your consultation, your physician will make sure you are a good candidate for the treatment and will give you all the information necessary to prepare for your procedure.
